Adjusting the Reclining Tension on a Lazyboy

One of the benefits of owning a Lazyboy recliner is the fact that it allows for tension adjustment. This means that you can customize the way it reclines to suit your needs perfectly. Lowering it results in you having to put less effort into handling the lever, which is a great thing if you don’t have much strength in your upper body. Increasing it, on the other hand, means that there will be no sudden movements and that reclining will be done in a slower and smoother manner. Regardless of what you would like to achieve, the following tips should prove useful.

Step 1
Adjusting the tension of the Lazyboy reclining mechanism involves tampering with one of the following two things: thumb wheels or wing nuts. You will have to push your chair forward to take a look underneath. You will find the mechanism either in the back or in the center of the recliner’s bottom part. But regardless of what you find there, the process of tension adjustment will be the same.

Step 2
Once you have located the thumb wheels or wing nuts, take a wrench and use it to make the adjustments. If you want the tension decreased, turn the wheels or nuts on both sides of the chair counter-clockwise. And if you want to increase it, simply do it in the opposite direction. Regardless of what you wish to achieve, it should be done by making only one quarter of a full turn at a time.

Step 3
This last part is very important. When tampering with the Lazyboy reclining mechanism, you should never loosen or tighten it all the way. The reason behind the rule of one quarter of a turn is the fact that doing anything more than that could damage the springs that are very important for maintaining the tension. As long as you don’t make that mistake, you will be able to repeat the process to do further adjustments without damaging the mechanism. And if the tension of your Lazyboy’s reclining mechanism is far from what you would like it to be, and if you believe one quarter of a turn won’t do much good, you can always make the necessary adjustments step by step.

Step 4
Once you have made the necessary adjustments, put the recliner back into the upright position and take a seat. Try lowering it to see whether you have loosened or tightened it enough. Take your time to decide, but if the tension is still not right, don’t hesitate to try adjusting it some more. Simply repeat the process, but make sure to turn the wheels or nuts only one quarter of a turn at a time.

Lazyboy Recliners or Franklin Recliners?

If you are in search of the best recliner for your living room or bedroom, you probably already know about Lazyboy chairs. These products have a reputation for being the best available, but they are not the only popular brand on the market. This is why we are going to compare them to one other manufacturer ñ Franklin Furniture. With the help of this article, you should be able to decide which one suits you best.

Which brand provides a better price?
When it comes to price, it is very easy to determine who the winner is Lazyboy. Although we will still be discussing other aspects of these two brands, Franklin recliners are a lot more expensive than those manufactured by Lazyboy. It remains to be seen whether it is worth paying more for a Franklin chair, which is why we will be moving on to the question of design.

Which brand has better-designed products?
Both Lazyboy and Franklin have some beautifully designed products. The brands offer everything from simple fabric recliners to leather chairs with remote-controlled reclining mechanisms. They have plenty to offer when it comes to style as well. Their products range from classic frames in rich brown colors to minimalistic chairs characterized by bold shades and chic patterns. But the answer to the question which brand is more stylish can only be answered by saying that in this respect they are pretty much equal.

Which brand provides more comfort?
Comfort is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing the best recliner. You don’t want to end up with a chair that pokes you in the back or simply doesn’t provide enough support. This is why most manufacturers take this job seriously. Lazyboy and Franklin are among those. It really can’t be said which one of them provides more comfort as their products are about the same. The only way to settle this question would be to try them both and see which one suits your specific needs better.

Which brand is of a higher quality?
Unfortunately for Franklin Furniture, Lazyboy is once again a winner. It might be because of the fabrics, as well as because of the reliability of both the frame and the reclining mechanism, but it seems that Franklin recliners tend to break and get damaged more often than Lazyboy chairs.

What are the customer reviews saying?
The most common complaint people have about Lazyboy are the difficulties they encounter while searching for spare parts. As for Franklin recliners, many say that their chair started malfunctioning somewhere around the first year after they had gotten it. Apart from that, they have one more major complaint, and that is the quality of fabric. Customers are often reporting that the finish on the armrests of their chairs is peeling heavily.

All in all, it seems that Lazyboy recliners are really the best products on the market, although Franklin chairs have their advantages as well.

How to Repair a Power Electric Recliners

Apart from being very comfortable and easy to use, Lazyboy power electric recliners are fairly simple to maintain as well. This is due to the fact that most of them are manufactured using the same components, which makes it easy to replace the damaged parts. Here are some of the most common issues, as well as a list of replacement parts you might need.

Loose in-line plugs
In up to 80% of cases, the problem with the power electric recliner is caused by loose in-line plugs. Fortunately for you, this has a very simple solution. Take a flashlight and use it to check the underside of your recliner. You will see wiring going around its base, and your job will be to check whether there are any loose connections. If you see one, even in the area around the motor, simply reconnect it and that should do the trick.

How to prevent loose in-line plugs
Once you have reconnected them, use electrical tape to secure the connections. This will prevent them from getting loose in the future, especially during the moving of the reclining mechanism.

Power surge
The second most common issue is caused by either by a power surge or an electrical storm. You can check whether this is the problem by looking for the green light most power electric recliners have. If it is not on, the motor of your chair is not getting any power. To resolve this, you will have to replace the transformer.

Preventing power surge
Plug your power electric recliner into a surge protector. These devices are made to prevent issues caused by power surges, which makes them a great investment for those who own this type of chair.

Cuts on the wires
If your chair stops working while it is closing, the issue is probably caused by cuts on the wires, especially if you see any sparks. The first thing you will need to do is locate the cut on the wiring on the underside of the recliner. Once you have found the cut, take the loose ends and intertwine them to reconnect the two pieces of wiring.

How to prevent cuts on wires
Apart from wrapping the wires with electrical tape, you can also use zip ties to fasten them to the frame of the recliner. This way you will prevent the cuts from happening again, and save yourself the time you would otherwise spend resolving these issues.
